UHMWPE (ULTRA-HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYETHYLENE)
UHMWPE possesses a unique combination of physical and mechanical properties which enable it to perform well under the most rigorous conditions of wear and environment. It has the highest known impact strength of any thermoplastic presently made, is highly resistant to abrasion, and has a very low coefficient of friction. These properties, coupled with extremely low moisture absorption, make UHMWPE and exceptional material for industrial impact, wear, and sliding applications.
Typical Applications
  • Gears
  • Sprockets
  • Conveyor parts
  • Impact surfaces
  • Bearings
  • Guide rails
  • Impact Surfaces
  • Feed screws
  • Bushings
  • Cams
  • Liners
UHMWPE is self-lubricating, especially in unlubricated movement over metal surfaces. Even at extremely low temperatures, its slippery, paraffin-like surface is inherently antiadhesive, making it the overwhelming choice for chute and bin linings, wear strips, slide plates, bearings and bushings - all areas where sliding contact is encountered. UHMW's coefficient of friction is significantly better than nylon and acetal, and is virtually the same as teflon - but has superior abrasion resistance.

Key Benefits

  • Impact Resistance
  • Low Coefficient of Friction
  • Corrosion and Chemical Resistance
  • Abrasion Resistance
  • Wear Resistance
  • Low Moisture Absorption
  • Nontoxic, Odorless, Tasteless

Availabilities

Rod: 1/4" - 6" dia.
Tubing: 5/8" ID to 3"ID (plus custom sizes)
Profiles and U Channel
Sheet/slab: 1/8" - 6" thk. (3/16" - 2" up to 60" x 120")

UHMWPE is particularly well-suited for applications where durability and low friction are of paramount importance, and its high resistance to corrosive chemicals, with the exception of oxidizing acids, make it an ideal choice for a wide range of corrosive environmental applications.

Polyurethane

Polyurethane is far superior to rubber, PVC and most other elastomers. It has all the positive features; virtually none of the negative qualities. Polyurethane offers the elasticity of rubber with the toughness and durability of metal. Because our compounds are available in every broad hardness range (eraser soft to bowling ball hard), it allows the engineer to replace rubber, plastic and metal when the ultimate in abrasion resistance is required.
Typical Applications
  • Chute Liner
  • Metal Forming Pads
  • Diaphragms
  • Drive Belts
  • Bearings
  • Wheels
  • Rolls-Guides, Drive and Pinch
  • Hopper Line
  • Sheave Liners
  • Cutting Surfaces
  • Timing Belts
  • Valve Seats
  • Mallet Heads
  • Gaskets
  • Bumpers
  • Mounts
  • Gears
  • Cams
  • Impellers
  • Bushings

Key Benefits

  • Abrasion Resistant
  • Sound Dampening Properties
  • Oil and Solvent Resistant
  • Extended Flex Life
  • Heat and Cold Resistant
  • Tear Resistant
  • Bondable to Metal

Availabilities

Rod: 1/2" - 6" dia.
Plate: 1/32" - 2"thk
      24 x 24, 24 x 48, 48 x 48
Tubular Bar: Many sizes Available

Polyurethane can reduce plant maintenance and OEM product cost. Numerous applications for this ultra tough material have cut down maintenance time and part cost to a fraction of previous figures. Up to 50 times longer wear can be expected from applications utilizing polyurethane for bins, chutes, rolls, belts, metal forming pads, wear strips, bumpers, wiper blades, etc.
Polyurethane base is highly resistant to oils, greases, fuels and many other chemicals. Above average characteristics include low water absorption, low M.V.T. rate, very resistant to weathering, ozone and sunlight. If Polyurethane should be considered for applications where humidity or water is used at elevated temperatures, special formulations must be used to prevent hydrolysis. Request polyether based Polyurethane under these circumstances.

Nylon 6/6

6/6 Nylon is a superior performer. Of all the unmodified nylons, it has the highest melting point, is the strongest, and most rigid. Because of its toughness, combined with an excellent low friction coefficient and good abrasion resistance. Nylon can replace a wide variety of vastly different materials ranging from metal to rubber. This product also exhibits good electrical insulating characteristics and noise damping properties. It has outstanding resistance to alkalies and organic materials. This combination of characteristics makes Nylon 6/6 useful for many different applications.

As important as the properties and performance of Nylon is the ease with which mill shapes can be fabricated into parts. Precision parts can be produced using standard metalworking equipment. Nylon is processed in a wide range of forms and sizes to meet applicable military and association specifications.

Typical Applications

  • Bearings
  • Bushings
  • Valve seats
  • Thrust Washers
  • Seals
  • Back up rings
  • Rollers
  • Guides
  • Gears
  • Insulators
  • Cams and cam followers
  • Fasteners
  • Sleeves
  • Liners
  • Tooling fixtures
  • Forming dies
